Define the purchase decision
A grade approved for settling is not automatically approved for pressure filtration. Mineral filter-press purchasing needs evidence that the conditioned feed supports a complete cycle and the plant handling target.
Keep the proposed product identity connected to the tested suspension and the intended separator.
Identify the filtration feed
Record whether the press receives thickener underflow or direct slurry, its solids range and prior polymer or coagulant history. Include plate, cloth and feed-pump information. Conditioned thickener material can behave differently from freshly prepared untreated laboratory feed.
Retain the upstream thickening record where the two duties are connected.
Check transfer and filling
Compare stock preparation, injection and shear up to the press. Record pumpability and chamber filling before judging only drainage. Large open floc can alter compressibility or distribution, while excessive local polymer can create viscous zones.
Use the preparation checks before rejecting a candidate whose laboratory and plant responses disagree.
Buy against whole-cycle performance
Measure filtrate quality and volume over time, pressure development, cake solids, release, cleaning and useful throughput. Hold mechanical settings for the initial comparison and document later optimization separately.
Do not rank only initial filtration speed or final cake appearance while ignoring filling time, discharge or solids loss.
Check a misleading apparent improvement
If early filtrate is clearer but the press cycle becomes longer or cake release fails, retain those failures in acceptance. The candidate has not demonstrated better whole-cycle productivity. Review preparation, transfer and conditioning before demanding a stronger product or assigning the entire difference to the supplied lot.
Retain the comparison conditions and any unresolved acceptance requirement with the proposed purchase.
Set the release boundary
Treat bench filtration as screening evidence and identify outstanding full-cycle confirmation. The order should specify the accepted feed and cycle range, not promise the same result on every thickened mineral slurry.
| Purchase requirement | Required evidence | Release condition |
|---|---|---|
| Feed | Actual solids and upstream conditioning | Comparison addresses the press duty |
| Transfer | Pumpability and filling | Floc reaches chambers usefully |
| Cycle | Filtrate, pressure, cake and release | Award follows complete productivity |
